Comprised of some of the top musicians in the country, the 68-member orchestra conducted by music director Mitch Glickman returns for rich explorations at the intersection of jazz and classical music.
On the program, Brazilian-American Clarice Assad, a Grammy Award–nominated composer, celebrated pianist, and inventive vocalist, will be performing music by Milton Nascimento, Astor Piazolla, along with her own compositions. Assad has toured the world working with such musicians as Bobby McFerrin, Paquito D'Rivera, Mike Marshall, Third Coast Percussion, and her father, guitarist Sergio Assad. Opening the concert will be world premieres by Ryan Cohan and Fracisco Torres featuring Justo Almario.
